Bali (Indonesia)
Our Bali is the eastern end, not the southern beaches. Sidemen's rice terraces, the black-sand dive coast at Amed, the misty temple lakes of the highlands — the island keeps its old rhythm wherever the surf schools thin out. We plan it in the dry season and route deliberately away from the traffic that has claimed the south.
Best for
- Rice-terrace walks
- Temple culture
- Diving and snorkelling
- Slow mornings
When to go
- Apr–Oct
- The dry season; green terraces, clear water, and dependable mornings.
- May–Jun
- Our favourite corner of it — dry, but before the high-season pricing.
